PHOTO WORKSHOPS IN PALERMOSummer light: 6:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Winter light: 7:00 – 11:00 a.m.
In this workshop, participants find themselves in a city of cultural crossroads surrounded by Byzantine mosaics, Arabesque domes, Norman palaces and lively street markets. Explore a place so bright in its colors – and dark in its shadows; its provocative soul won’t make you feel anything but alive.
This workshop emphasizes the juxtaposition of extraordinary beauty and and the degeneration that naturally occurs in a time-worn city. Over 2,700 years old, Palermo has become a culmination of many different cultures and the site of economic extremes. The light like the history, can be violently bright casting inky shadows and challenging angles. With the help of an essential, local guide, you will come across winding streets, sites of former grandeur mixed with contemporary urbanity. Unexpected beauty will be found at your footsteps and up high on cupolas set on buildings and churches – all guided by a native Palermitano photographer. Select from our two proposals or design your own itinerary with us to deeply explore the provocative soul of Palermo.
