Join photographers Mauro Benedetti and Livio Mancini for a series of immersive visual experiences in the deepest urban cores of NYC. The theater of street life is exciting and unpredictable especially in this metropolis, and these renowned photographers will teach you to use New York City to capture urban documentary photography (aka street photography)  – in an unforgettable series.

Take your photography to a new level this summer.

Whether you are a photographer, a tourist or you are simply looking for a deeper and unique experience of New York, our PopUp workshops will be your guide to make your personal visual diary of the City.

Focus

We will set up the best strategies to observe through the chaotic flow of the City, develop fast reactions to capture fleeting scenes and create your personal photographic stories in a way that is both compelling and respectful. You will learn technical skills; body language tips; ways of looking and post-production direction.

These 6 Pop-Up workshops unfold in the areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn that we consider “visually charged”. As we walk through loosely-defined itineraries, we will surely pop-up in the places, corners, intersections where scenes continuously develop. Each of the Pop-Up workshops is built around a distinct theme or “character”, which will inspire participants when looking for captures to be arranged later as mini-stories – or as stand-alone images.

Dates and Themes

Join us for one, all or as many as you desire. Each workshop will contain new information, practice in different settings, lighting and styles. Feel free to practice experimenting – or perfect your personal style while working with two exceptional photographers.

Mauro Benedetti

Mauro Benedetti is an avid street and documentary photographer based in Rome, Italy, where he runs Rome Photography Workshop. His documentary work captures humor, contrasts and visual patterns in densely saturated urban-scapes, like Rome and New York City, where he attempts to define singular and unsettling expressions of moments that emerge amidst a visual cacophony. A student of Alex Webb with a passion for photography art history, Mauro has been featured in The Globe and Mail, Lonely Planet Traveller Magazine, WeStreet Photography, i-Italy Magazine and ClickMagazine.
